About the Caramel Frappuccino Blended Beverage
The Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino carries 362 calories in a Grande and 30.8mg of caffeine. Coffee is blended with caramel syrup, milk and ice, then topped with whipped cream and a caramel sauce drizzle.
Syrup in the blend and sauce on top do different jobs, and the drink needs both. Caramel syrup is thin and dissolves into the ice, sweetening the whole glass evenly; the sauce is thick and sits on the cream, so the first mouthfuls carry a concentrated hit before the drink settles into the milder blended sweetness underneath. Take either one away and it reads flat. The caramel is the buttery kind rather than burnt sugar, which keeps it from competing with the coffee.
Sugar is 43.8g in a Grande out of 45.4g of carbohydrate, close to half an adult's 90g reference intake. Fat is 17.7g with 12.2g saturated. Calories run 282 in a Tall, 362 in a Grande and 403 in a Venti. Starbucks UK does not publish a delivery price for this one, so the figure above is left blank rather than estimated.
The drizzle inside the cup is not only decoration either. Stores line the inside of the glass with caramel sauce before the blend goes in, which puts sweetness at the bottom where the straw ends up. A cup poured without that lining tastes progressively blander towards the end, and it is the most common difference between a well made one and a rushed one.
Two changes matter here: no whipped cream and no caramel drizzle together take roughly 90 calories off a Grande, and half the syrup cuts around 10g of sugar. It is the most ordered Frappuccino in UK stores through summer. The Coffee Frappuccino is the plain version at 299 calories, and the Caramel Cream Frappuccino is the same flavour with no coffee at all.

How to Make a Caramel Frappuccino Blended Beverage at Home
The same coffee ice base as a plain Frappuccino with caramel in two places: syrup blended through and sauce on top.
Ingredients
Coffee ice
To blend
To finish
Method
0 of 3 stepsTips
- Syrup in the blend and sauce on top are not interchangeable. Syrup alone tastes flat, sauce alone leaves the bottom half unsweetened.
- Warm the sauce for ten seconds before drizzling or it tears through the cream instead of sitting on it.
- A quarter teaspoon of xanthan gum keeps it blended for far longer.
Variations
- Salted caramel with a good pinch of flaky salt in the sauce.
- Half the syrup for roughly 10g less sugar, with the sauce still doing the visible work.
- Decaf coffee cubes, which changes nothing about the flavour.
Tall glass lined with sauce, cream and drizzle on top. It is a dessert and it looks like one.
