Starbucks UK App Order Ahead, Pay & Collect Guide
The Starbucks UK app does three things worth having: it orders ahead, it pays, and it holds the Rewards balance. Mobile Order and Pay is listed at many of the 1,378 stores tracked in this site's locator, though not at all of them, so it is worth checking against the branch you use.
What the app does not do is change the price. The menu is national, and an order placed in the app costs what the counter charges, which is the part that separates it from delivery through a partner platform.

How to Order Ahead With the Starbucks App
- Download the app
Search for Starbucks UK on the App Store or Google Play. The UK app is a separate listing from the US one, and only the UK app works at the 1,378 stores here.
- Create an account
Sign up with an email address. No card is needed to join, and Stars start collecting on your first purchase.
- Add a payment method or a gift card
A card can be added directly, or a Starbucks gift card can be loaded into the app and topped up from there.
- Pick your store
Choose a store before you order. 1,267 of the 1,378 UK stores take mobile orders; the rest serve at the counter only.
- Order and collect
Build the drink with the size, milk and syrup you want, pay in the app, then collect from the counter when it is ready. Collection orders skip the queue.
Order Ahead and Collection
Mobile Order and Pay lets an order be placed and paid for before arriving, then collected from the collection point. The saving is queue time rather than money, and it matters most at the branches that back up: station units, airport units and city centre shops at the morning peak.
Availability is set per store. The locator pages on this site list which branches carry Mobile Order and Pay, and it is one of the more useful things to know before walking to a particular shop at eight in the morning.
Customisation in the app is more complete than most people use. Milk, shots, syrup pumps and whipped cream can all be set before ordering, which is the reliable way to get a drink built the way you want it without explaining at a busy counter.
What the App Is Worth
Two things make the app pay for the space on a phone. The first is the reusable cup discount, which applies in the app and at the counter alike and is the most reliable saving Starbucks offers. The second is Rewards, which accumulates on spend you were making anyway.
Against that, ordering ahead makes it easier to spend more. A counter queue is a natural brake on an impulse pastry; an app is not. The coffee budget planner on this site works out what a habit actually costs across a month, which is the number most people have never seen.
Digital gift cards can be loaded into the app and spent from it, which is the simplest way to use one without carrying the physical card.

Starbucks App
Does ordering on the Starbucks app cost more?
No. The app charges counter prices. The markup sits on Deliveroo and Uber Eats instead, averaging 17.7 percent across tracked items.
Is Mobile Order and Pay available at every Starbucks?
No, it is set per store. The store locator pages here list which branches carry it, drawn from the store data rather than assumed.
Can I customise a drink in the Starbucks app?
Yes, more fully than most people use. Milk, shot count, syrup pumps and whipped cream are all adjustable before you order, which is more reliable than explaining at a busy counter.
Can I use a Starbucks gift card in the app?
A digital card can be loaded into the app and spent from it, which avoids carrying the physical card. See the gift card guide for how balances work.
Does the app show accurate store opening times?
It shows what each store has published, which is the same source the times on this site come from. Hours are set per branch and change without much notice, so both can lag a change made that morning.
